Nothing to Say

What was one activity or thing that helped you get through the time when your parents separated?

Online gaming helped me get through this time for me. Mainly because moving from city to city back and forth from one parent's house to another made it difficult to maintain friends. There was little consistency. So, being able to hop online where it doesn't matter where you are currently living to friends I either didn't know in person or had known in person was a great help.

If you now could talk to yourself then, what would you say?

I would tell myself to listen to my body. My needs. What I want my life to look like. To not be scared to open up to people but also listen to other kids problems.

Being older now, I've realize that while not too many could fully understand what I was going through, everyone has their problems and some of the best friendships and relationships are built around sharing these problems. Mutually being there for one another. So, open up, but also allow others to open up to me. To not be so closed off and worried about losing people. The ones that are worth keeping around are the ones who will be open to hearing you out.

What would you now say to your parents then?

Honestly, there's nothing I could say to my parents then. I had one parent who was there for me always and one who could never understand another person's opinion. They would never even try.
